Welcome to Safe Families for Children Madison County!
In March 2013, Safe Families Madison County was launched as an expansion of the Safe Families for Children Central Indiana office. Emma Johnson answered the call and took on the challenge of spreading the Safe Families movement in Madison County and boy oh boy did God show up in a big way!
After one year of growth in Madison County, 19 volunteer host families have been recruited and approved and 63 placements have occurred with only 1 part time employee! God has given us incredible host families that have accomplished mighty things for families in crisis across our county. We have served a father of 3 young children who desperately wanted to seek treatment for substance abuse and was able to do so through the unwavering support of 2 loving host families. We have helped a homeless young mom with two young boys who had been bouncing around with roommates for over a year. Just 2 weeks ago she was able to move into her into her new home that is walking distance to her boys’ school… she is on cloud 9! We have been able to facilitate finding a forever family for a 5-year-old girl that is being raised by her Grandma who has terminal cancer. This incredible host family will be adopting this little girl~and what’s even more, this host-family-turned-adoptive-family will be moving both the 5 year old and the Grandmother to a location close by their own home, so Grandmother and granddaughter can spend as much time together as possible before she passes.
Stories like these are possible because of people like you, who see this work and realize that it’s needed.
God has been moving in some miraculous ways and we are now working to raise funds to continue to support these efforts in Madison County. SFFC/Madison County was started on seed money and we now need to move toward being able to fully support ourselves.
The goal is big, but we know that God is bigger! Our financial goal is to raise $65,000 over the next year to cover our expenses, including two positions in Madison County. Incredible work has been done and with your help and we look forward to what God will continue to do.
